From December 1968 to the fall of 1969 the 12 TFW allowed pilots to name their aircraft. A general officer from 7th AF visited Cam Ranh and ordered all names removed. I would appreciate references to names and F-4 serial number not listed below that were applied to tail codes XN,XT and XC.

64-0792 was named Smoothie, 559th TFS. My uncle named and flew her in Vietnam, and now she's on display at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.

#63-7413 was named The Rock. I've got a photo of her when my uncle flew her instead of Smoothie whilein Vietnam. I can't seem to attach the photo here. He was in the 559th, so I assume the plane was as well but I can't be positive since they were always down for maintenance and being borrowed by other squadrons.
KATHY-O was the name on my favorite F4 because my fiance's name was Kathy. I have a couple of pictures but none of them include the tail number. The number on the front landing gear door is 825. I think that was it's revetment location and the logo looks to be the 557th TFS.
